The Rebound! v2 software requires an activator code, which is included with your Rebound! unit. Be sure to keep a copy of this code separately from your system, as you will need to enter it again should you reinstall the Rebound! software, or move the Rebound! unit to another computer.
For older units, the activator code is provided with the order confirmation when you purchase the Rebound 2.0 upgrade.
To install the Rebound! v1 software, double-click on the "Install Rebound!" icon. Click "Install" to install the software. After installation, you should restart your computer.
IMPORTANT: If you encounter errors during the installation process, you may need to disable any antivirus software, then try the installation again.
The standard installation will install Rebound! into your system folder, and will place documentation and additional information into a folder at any location you choose.
There are also several optional packages that you can install by selecting "Custom Install" from the pop-up menu at the top left of the Installer window.
To start using Rebound!, you must activate the software. After installing the software and restarting your computer, open the Rebound! control panel. You will be prompted to enter your activator code.
The hyphens in the activator code are optional and the letters may be in upper or lower case. Each activator code will only work with its matching serial number, so if you own multiple Rebound! units, make sure to enter the matching codes.
The Rebound! control panel has been redesigned to accommodate the new features and controls. The window now has three tabbed panels, divided by function.
The "Application Crashes" panel now displays a list of currently-running applications, along with their application timer value and number of relaunch attempts.
Crash Detection and Recovery
Added general application crash detection. Rebound! can now detect when any application crashes, causing an "unexpectedly quit" error message.
Added application relaunching. If an application crashes or its application timer expires, Rebound! can now attempt to relaunch the application any number of times before restarting the system.
Added logging features through our new logging system. You can now create a log of Rebound!'s activity, and the logging software, monoLog, can even notify you by e-mail or pager when a problem occurs (among other really cool features).
Added a "bookmarking" feature. Rebound! can automatically relaunch any applications which were running when the system crashed.
Added periodic restarting. Rebound! can automatically restart your system on a regular schedule, to minimize the effects of memory leaks and fragmentation.
- Rearranged System Crashes panel to be more intuitive. The "Time allowed for system to restart" slider is now only enabled if the "Number of restart attempts" is greater than 1.
- Finder icons sometimes appeared incorrectly - fixed.
- When the Application Crashes panel of the was open, the Rebound! software would update the hardware's system crash timer too frequently. This caused no harmful effect, but - fixed.
- Under some situations, multiple restart messages were sent to monoLog in succession - fixed.
- Rebound! code base updated to match Kick-off!
