Sophisticated Circuits Announces Hardware Upgrade Program
for PowerKey Pro Model 600 Owners

WOODINVILLE, WASHINGTON, June 4, 2002 -- Sophisticated Circuits today announced a hardware upgrade path for registered owners of its PowerKey Pro Model 600, something virtually unheard of in this industry. "They said it couldn't be done, but we did it!", said Amar Singh of Sophisticated Circuits, "Hardware upgrades are difficult to offer, but we wanted to give our customers the ability to move their investment in their ADB PowerKey Pro Model 600’s to our latest USB PowerKey Pro 650 as well as to promote recycling, so we made the extra effort and succeeded."

Upgraded PowerKey Pros are supplied with a new case, updated electronics, a new USB interface cable, and completely new OS X-compatible PowerKey 4.1 software, as well as a one-year warranty on the entire unit, to bring them to full parity with a new PowerKey Pro 650. Two Versions Target Different Needs

Just as there are two versions of the PowerKey Pro 650, there are two versions of the upgrade: "SOHO" and "Admin", one targeted at home users and another one aimed at the needs of computer administrators. (See related press release, dated 06/04/02.)

PowerKey Pro 650 "SOHO" offers powerful abilities as an automation and convenience tool for individual users who may not need all the advanced features. Simplified scheduling controls make it a snap to save on energy costs by controlling almost any type of power device.

Individually controllable outlets make it easy to program peripherals. Devices can be scheduled to turn on and off with the system, at specific times, remotely by telephone, or automatically when the computer goes to sleep. Users can control them at will using the switches on the unit, the instant software buttons, custom Hot Keys, or with AppleScript.

Administrator for Professional Performance

PowerKey Pro "Admin" includes everything in the "SOHO" version, plus Sophisticated Circuits' patented Rebound! reliability technology (formerly the SRO option). It also includes iDo Script Scheduler software and monoLog logging software for OS 9, which lacks built-in support for these features. These tools combine to give professionals an unprecedented amount of control over the machines they manage: whether they are sleeping or traveling in a foreign country, they can rely on the Administrator to keep them up and running.

Pricing and Availability

The upgrade from a PowerKey Pro 600 to a USB PowerKey Pro 650 costs $149.50 for the "Admin" version and $99.50 for the "SOHO" version (plus return shipping), a savings of 50% off the price of the new product. Turn-around time is 2-3 weeks from the time of receipt of the customer’s original PowerKey Pro Model 600. The PowerKey Pro 650 "Admin" and "SOHO" are available for $299 and $199 respectively directly from Sophisticated Circuits or any of its dealers and distributors.
