FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

USB PowerKey Pro Now Available

January 8, 2002 at Macworld Expo in San Francisco - Sophisticated Circuits, Inc. today announced PowerKey Pro Model 650, the first USB version of its acclaimed line of programmable power controllers.

A Distinguished Family

The PowerKey family has been winning accolades since it was first introduced in 1990, earning 5 Mice from MacUser and 5 Stars from MacWorld, among many other glowing reviews. The PowerKey Pro 650 greatly expands on the original PowerKey, adding USB support, 6 individually switchable outlets, powerful scheduling capabilities, full telephone remote control, and automatic restart capabilities for unattended machines.

New Versions Targets User Requests

"We have spent a lot of time considering user requests," said Jonathan Feinstein of Sophisticated Circuits, Inc. "That is how we develop our products and why they are successful," he continued. "And that is why we have two versions of the new USB PowerKey Pro, one targeted at home users and another one aimed at the needs of computer administrators".

Powerful Capabilities for SOHO

PowerKey Pro's significant abilities as an automation and convenience tool are available to individual users who may not need all the advanced features. Simplified scheduling controls make it a snap to save on energy costs by controlling almost any type of power device.

Individually switchable outlets make it easy to program peripherals. Devices can be scheduled to turn on and off with the system, at specific times, remotely by telephone, or automatically when the computer goes to sleep. Users can control them at will using the switches on the unit, the instant software buttons, custom Hot Keys, or with AppleScript.

Administrator for Professional Performance

"The Administrator is our full-blown professional tool", continued Feinstein, "PowerKey Pro has been the backbone of many mission critical commercial machines such as servers and kiosks for over 5 years, so we wanted to make sure that the new model gave administrators everything they required." The Administrator configuration includes Sophisticated Circuits' Rebound!(tm) reliability technology (formerly the SRO option) in addition to the iDo(tm) Script Scheduler software and monoLog logging software. These tools combine to give professionals an unprecedented amount of control over the machines they manage: whether they are sleeping or traveling in a foreign country, they can rely on the Administrator to keep them up and running.

New Management Software to Support OS X

The USB PowerKey Pro Model 650 includes a completely new software control application, PowerKey 4.0. This new software platform provides a simplified user interface and a robust, carbonized engine that will bring PowerKey Pro's powerful features to OSX users.

Pricing and Availability

The PowerKey Pro SOHO is priced at $249.00 and the PowerKey Pro Administrator is priced at $349.00. PowerKey Pro SOHO is available immediately for use with Mac OS 9. PowerKey Pro Administrator and OS X software are in beta testing and are expected to ship in March 2002.
